Dedicated fill-level measuring device specifically for coal mills developed by KIMA – SmartFill (Coal)

Its fill-level measuring device has been successfully used for ball mills in the cement industry for over seven years. Now, KIMA Echtzeitsysteme has successfully adapted and developed the device for use in coal mills. Thanks to the use of a new fill-level sensor, it is now possible to take reliable fill-level measurements, even when there are fluctuations in coal quality or moisture levels. Tested over a period of several months, SmartFill (Coal) has proven itself able to take precise fill-level measurements reliably and without errors.

This unparalleled technology helps to achieve homogenous degrees of fineness, thereby improving the combustion properties of the coal. This, in turn, leads to a reduction in unburnt coal and, consequently, better energy efficiency.

SmartFill (Coal) is suitable for use in a variety of different types of ball mill, including (air-swept) tube mills, centre discharge mills and SAG mills. It can also be used irrespective of the type of lining (steel/rubber), grinding media (balls/cylpebs) or grinding process (wet/dry).
